Living well at home at the heart of Tameside’s new Adult Social Care vision

Date Released - 07/03/2024

SUPPORTING people to live well in a place they call home and closely involving them in decisions are key priorities of Tameside Council’s new Adult Social Care and Carers Strategy.

The strategies were launched this week at an event attended by those who access support, partner organisations, staff, and the Civic Mayor Cllr Tafheen Sharif. Both strategies outline the social care three-year vision and priorities for the borough. The vision sees people living well in a place they call home, where they are supported to be part of their local communities to live long, healthy and fulfilled lives.

The voices of the people who access care and support from Adult Services, Carers and the workforce are at the centre of both strategies.  A key focus for the next three years is co-producing services with the experts, the people who access services for care and support. The workforce will prioritise working alongside experts by experience and involve them in developing high-quality services which offer choice and control.

Executive Member for Adult Social Care Cllr John Taylor said: ‘’I’m proud to launch our Adult Social Care and Carers Strategies which vitally put the people of Tameside at the heart of care.

“Everyone has a right to be involved in decisions about their care and support. Very importantly the voice of those who access our services runs strong throughout both of our plans.’’
